Introducing The Breast Clinic – Our New Specialist Clinic
For the past few months, we have visited our gynae clinics both in the heartlands and in town. This month, we will be visiting The Breast Clinic in Paragon, started in May 2019. for ladies who need breast screening and specialist breast care.
The Breast Clinic is helmed by Dr Anthony Tang, who has been an oncoplastic breast surgeon for many years. He looks after all breast problems:
- Mastitis
- Breast lumps
- Breast pain
- Fluid or blood coming out from the nipple
The clinic is equipped with the facilities (like an ultrasound machine) to investigate these symptoms and subsequently provide the care needed.
What If Further Investigations are Required?
Sometimes, after doing an ultrasound scan, a biopsy may be required. It is a process where some tissue is taken out of the breast to determine if it is cancerous or not. Here are the different types of biopsies that can be performed in the clinic’s treatment room:

Core Biopsy
The most common form of biopsy. A MAGNUM ® gun is used to perform this biopsy.

Surgical Excision Biopsy
Surgery is performed to remove the entire lump.

Vacuum-Assisted Biopsy
This is a minimally-invasive procedure to remove lumps. A small incision is made in the breast and a needle-like instrument is used to remove the entire lump.

Needle Biopsy
Supporting Your Journey to Recovery After Breast Cancer
Dr Tang and his nurses believe in helping all ladies in a holistic way. Hence, the clinic’s Fitting Room is designed as an intimate space for ladies who require complementary services as they recover from Breast Cancer. The complementary services include:
- Customised bras for post-surgery whereby the nurse will assist you in the fitting
- Shampoo for patients who are undergoing chemotherapy
- Compression hand-stockings for patients who had surgery
As a strong advocate for breast cancer screening, Dr Tang speaks at many local and international seminars. Dr Tang also believes in using his professional skills to help the underprivileged and has participated in many surgical outreach programs in various parts of Asia.
