IVF CLINICIAN
Clinical Interests:
Dr Fong Yang is a certified Ministry of Health IVF clinician, with more than 20 years of experience in the medical specialisation of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. His medical journey started in 1990, when he obtained his medical degree at the National University of Singapore (NUS), thereafter pursuing additional specialisation training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG). In 2000, Dr Fong Yang was also accepted into the Fellow of Academy of Medicine in Singapore.
As part of the select IVF clinicians who specializes in female and male infertility, Dr Fong Yang was the first in Singapore to carry out percutaneous sperm aspiration for men. This procedure helps resolve a condition whereby the sperm ducts are blocked, thus affecting the production of sperms.
Apart from female and male infertility, Dr Fong Yang also helps couples who suffer from early and/or recurrent pregnancy loss and miscarriages. Intra-uterine Insemination (IUI), a fertility treatment option, is also a procedure that Dr Fong Yang is experienced at. The aim of his fertility practice is always to help couples with their goal to conceive.
Before establishing his private practice in 2002, Dr Fong Yang was a consultant at Changi General Hospital (CGH) and Singapore General Hospital (SGH), where he saw patients in the O&G and Andrology clinics. He was also highly involved with SGH’s Centre for Assisted Reproduction and its In-Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) programmes.
Dr Fong Yang often shares about his area of expertise at forums both locally and abroad. He is also an active writer for a myriad of newspapers and magazines to help raise awareness for female and male fertility problems.
He is a proficient bilingual, fluent in Mandarin and English, as well as dialects such as Teochew and Hokkien.
